Berkeley Heights Municipal Complex Update for Week Ending August 7 - TAPinto.net
Even though Tropical Storm Isaiah knocked out power for some of Berkeley Heights last week, the power stayed on at the municipal complex construction site, so work on the project was able to continue uninterrupted. The new police parking lot and sally port area (secure entry for police) has been paved and curbing installed. Windows are almost complete throughout the entire building, as is the brick masonry, except for the East Side, closest to Plainfield Avenue. The jail cell area is mostly complete, doors have been delivered and are on site. On this same floor, police offices and training rooms are looking good, with window stools in, ceiling grids and electric going in, as painting and spackling continues throughout the building. Next week, the sanitary sewer and storm lines system will be tied in, with grading continuing; masonry and windows should be complete soon.
For the week ending August 7, 2020 at the Berkeley Heights Municipal Complex project site, the following took place:
- EPIC and their subcontractors had an average daily manpower count of 48 workers.
- Force Concrete continued the brick veneer on the east elevation and substantially completed the block work in the detention area.
- EUC placed underground storm lines, sanitary piping, and structures on the south side, tied in to the existing manhole, and backfilled and compacted. EUC’s subcontractor, Top Line Paving, placed curbing on Park Avenue and base coat asphalt at the Police Department parking lot, the former Columbus Avenue, the bottom portion of Berkeley Avenue, and the future DPW parking area by the west retaining wall.
- Industrial Cooling Corporation continued with duct work and controls on the 2nd floor and in the detention area, and prepped for rooftop unit startup.
- Epic Interiors hung drywall and insulation, taped and spackled, framed soffits, and installed ceiling grid.
- Mehl Electric placed lighting wiring and fixtures, outlets, additional teledata boxes, and panel terminations.
- All Ply Roofing performed work on the flashing and the flat roofing on the north side.
- Eighteen Glass continued with of the storefronts in the Library.
- Epic Millwork installed window stools on the first and second floor.
- Fine Painting continued work on the 1st floor in the Police Department.
- Artisans Showcase of Tile placed wall tile in the 2nd floor employee rest rooms. The following pages contain progress photos from this week.
