PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO) - Palisade held the 11th annual Art and Chocolate Walk from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
14 shops and studios participated in showcasing the work of local artisans, from paintings to pottery and everything in between. The event takes place every year on small business Saturday in order to highlight the creativity of friends and neighbors within the community. Each gallery enticed passersby with free homemade treats.
“Shopping local really supports your community and helps fund so much and it really helps the artists, no matter what they do,” says Deb Tsakalos of Deb’s Funky Folk Art.
“We try to keep art as an integral part of the Art and Chocolate Walk, but it’s really all about the chocolate,” Kay Crane, Gallery Director for The Blue Pig.
Folks said it was a great opportunity to get a jump on some Christmas shopping while keeping the money in the community.
Walkers began with a punch card and got it “punched” by visiting all of the participating vendors.
For walkers that went to all participating vendors, they were entered into a drawing for a basket brimming with some art and chocolate to take home.
