Berkeley Heights Municipal Complex Update Week Ending August 14, 2020 - TAPinto.net

Berkeley Heights Municipal Complex Update Week Ending August 14, 2020 - TAPinto.net

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - For work being done on the municipal complex this past week, Mast (construction company) and its subcontracts were working on tying in the gutters and leaders on the roof, to better enable proper drainage, while underground storm lines are being tied in on the South side of the building (side facing Park Avenue). HVAC finishes were being done on the second floor, while floor tile is being installed in all the rest rooms throughout the building. East side (closest to current Town Hall building) masonry is finishing up – this is the last side of the building for masonry work to be complete. The pile of dirt currently in our municipal parking lot, which was moved from the construction site, is being spread out whenever we have a few consecutive dry days; this is significantly helping the drying process, as the moisture content continues to decreases in the pile. This will increase the chances the Township can use this dirt later as backfill on the construction site and for the new building, saving significant amounts of money (compared to the costs associated with exporting the wet dirt and importing dry dirt).

Meanwhile, light poles have been delivered, and are being stored in the newly paved parking lot. Ceiling and carpet tile have been delivered; prep work is going on at Stair Landing #1. Meanwhile, on the inside, drywall, insulation, taping, spackling, ceiling grid, mechanical, electrical and lighting work continues, while the curtain wall and storefront work also continues.

For the week ending August 14, 2020 at the Berkeley Heights Municipal Complex project site, the following took place:

  • EPIC and their subcontractors had an average daily manpower count of 45 workers.
  • Force Concrete approached completion of the masonry veneer on the east elevation and continued brick work on the north side above Stair #5. Force also began form work for the Stair #1 exterior landing.
  • EUC continued underground storm work on the south side, and turned and reshaped Soil Stockpile #1 in the existing parking lot to promote drying so the material can be reused during Phase 2.
  • Industrial Cooling Corporation resumed duct work and controls on the 1st floor, and began installation of HVAC finishes on the 2nd floor.
  • Epic Interiors hung drywall and insulation, taped and spackled, and installed ceiling grid.
  • Mehl Electric placed wiring, lighting, fixtures, outlets, and additional teledata and AV boxes.
  • All Ply Roofing performed work on the flashing and the flat roofing on the north side, and resumed shingle installation in the center sector.
  • Eighteen Glass continued with the curtain wall panes, and the storefronts in the Library and the Police Department.
  • Artisans Showcase of Tile tiled the walls of the 2nd floor employee lavatories, and began floor tile in the 1st  and 2nd floor rest rooms.
  • Able Doors mobilized and began layout activities.
  • Allied Fire & Safety tied in the sprinkler mains to the fire service.
